Homemade Carp Bait Making Secrets

Biography

Known for his bait secrets Ebooks and articles, Tim’s been published and quoted around the world, had his own carp page in UK carp magazines, plus interviews in UK Crafty Carper to Big Carp Magazine and European Carp magazines, in hard copy and leading online paper magazines. (From the States, to Germany and Scandinavia to Italy. Tim has worked with Ian Moore and his company CC Moore, giving bait Q and A’s at The CCMoore Open day at Horseshoe lake in Gloucestershire (as well as giving 2 bailiff’s on there the top rods at the time, bait tuition, to help them compete against big bait companies fishing there!)

He wrote the bait chapter for Jason Rider’s “The only way is carp”, and of course spent countless hours on UK lakes and river banks, Later venturing abroad to Rainbow Lake and Dream Lakes and others since the early nineties on various occasions, hooking many big carp and catfish records in his time.

Despite dedicating so much time on the bank perfecting his crafty angling art, he wasn’t been idle off the bank either, also writing his own four fishing and bait making e-books, plus a comprehensive bait making course, and also giving 1:1 (and occasional group) fishing tuitions.

Tim obviously became a keen angler in childhood, and here’s a run-down/timeline of how things progressed throughout his early and later fishing career/journey:

1976

His first carp bait made in Billericay Essex UK and very first Cyprinus carpio!

1977-1980s

Early carp fishing years, he was inspired by many classical carp books, “Confessions of a carp fisher” Fred J. Taylor’s chapter on carp in Peter Stone’s “Coarse fishing” Jack Hilton’s “Quest for carp “Rod Hutchinson’s “The carp strikes back” Kevin Maddock’s “Carp fever” and countless others along the way!

Early 1980’s

Tim built ponds in his parents garden for his first bait testers!

1984

Writtle agricultural university college: while studying horticulture and soil science further studies in metabolism, hormones, metabolites, nutrient and energy pathways, thermogenic and antioxidant plant substances applied in carp baits, animal feeds design optimisation, mycoprotein production etc. (There was no course available in fish management and aquaculture available to him at the time!)

His favourite aunt an academic researcher (in age-related diseases and antioxidant preventions and cures,) professor Catherine Rice-Evans published 120 papers on food polyphenols, flavonoids and neuroscience and more, in Researchgate, Pubmed etc: He had many inspiring conversations on antioxidants, metabolism, thermogenics etc.

1986

An highly-influential inspiring chat with world record holder, Kevin Ellis (notably fishing enzyme-active milk protein baits at the time,) on Lake meadows, Billericay, Essex.

1987

Heavily influenced by the pioneers and following very much, at the time, Jack Hilton, Rod Hutchinson, corresponding with Rod Hutchinson – becoming a field tester for him and other earlier bait companies.

1992

Early first Essex 30s. Shotgate and other syndicates.

1995/6

First European carp over 30lbs e.g. At Lac du Salagou.

1996-2007

Multiple UK forties, a UK 50 carp and biggest catfish lessons in his carp bait evolution!

1997-2004

Huge lessons from making baits for UK catfish from 70 lb to 120 lbs plus.

2004

A bit of background on the fishmeal bait-caught 2-Tone British Record catch.
Released “Big carp bait secrets” Helping revive the homemade bait industry at a time 95 percent of anglers used readymades!

2005

Joined the British Carp Study Group; many interesting bait conversations with members and also scientific committee members of the American Carp Angling Group.

2006

Hooked the world record carp at Rainbow Lake, France.
Released second Ebook: “Big carp and catfish bait secrets”

2007

Released third Ebook: “Big carp and catfish flavours and feeding triggers secrets” (A study on identifying ‘true feeding triggers and their dynamic levels.)

2009

Ian Moore invited Tim to be a consultant for CC Moore. CCMooreTV “The bait brain”, filming in the kitchen, with Alan Welch.

2010

Gave the very first 1-1 Bait tuition day and Group bait tuitions.

2011

Helped Founding Feedstimulants.com inspiring and helping Luke to found feedstim.com/feedstimulants.com; testing his first products inspired by his Flavours And feeding triggers secrets Ebook; writing reviews and product descriptions forming the original site, at the time very influential in transforming the bait industry increasingly toward a far wider range of additives and stimulants.

2012-2014

Crafty Carper Magazine writer: Tim wrote the monthly page on bait “Carp food” being kindly recommended to bait buff Tim Paisley by Frank Warwick. (Asked to write for Carpworld; but avoided due to bait company politics; a sign of the times!)

2014-15

Hadlow College: Carp bait Testing on mature lake-caught carp, with the aquaculture and fishery management degree lecturer, James – testing baits and bait substances in the tank and the college lake; James instantly catches a new personal best and lake’s biggest resident at 43lb+ PB using Tim’s bait (on Barden lake Tonbridge north Kent.)

2015 to 2025

Continuing to expand his knowledge, Tim gives bait tuitions and helps struggling anglers and UK top rods make homemade baits to transform their catches. Either with new best seasons results and personal bests, record French or Hungarian or other European captures or in helping top rods make baits catching those more sought-after more rarely-caught UK fish.
An intriguing journey – helping anglers compete more successfully using their new homemades against commercial readymades.
(Irony too: The boss of the leading Hungarian bait company even requested a signed picture of Tim for his office wall, having been inspired by his Ebooks and articles over 10 years ago!)
